SJMPH Diabetes Center Announces 22nd Annual Educational Seminar

MERCY DIABETES CENTER HOSTS TWENTY-SECOND ANNUAL DIABETES EDUCATION SEMINAR
Port Huron, MI…St. Joseph Mercy’s Diabetes Center is pleased to host the 2013 community education event, “Diabetes…Reality Wellness.” Diabetes Mellitus is a chronic condition. Without proper treatment it can result in serious health problems, but by learning to manage the disease, individuals can live healthier lives. The first step is finding supportive people to assist the patient with self-management. This event is open to all individuals living with diabetes, who would like more in-depth information regarding diabetes self-management and changing behaviors to help manage diabetes.
“Diabetes…Reality Wellness” premier adult diabetes education program will be held Saturday, November 2, 2013, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., in the St. Joseph Mercy Baggot Street Café (cafeteria). The event will include interactive presentations by guest speakers: Robert Camara, DO, Family Practice; Kevin Townsend, PharmD, Pharmacist; Danni Spresser, LMSW, ACSW, Social Work; Sue Smith, LPN, Fitness Specialist; Jeff Hoomaian, “Mr. Sweet;” and Cassandra Hackstock, MSU Extension Service.
Presented by St. Joseph Mercy’s highly-skilled diabetes educators, the program will explore key diabetes information and provide education to successfully manage diabetes. The cost of the event is $10 per person and will include continental breakfast, lunch, a free gift, the presentation and information and educational displays from local diabetes vendors.
