Kanu Dalal, MD, Named July 2010 Patient-Focused Physician of the Month
Port Huron, MI…Kanu Dalal, MD, was named the July 2010 St. Joseph Mercy Port Huron Patient-Focused Physician of the Month. The St. Joseph Mercy Patient-Focused Physician of the Month award highlights a physician’s commitment to working collaboratively to promote patient and community health through clinical excellence and patient-focused care. Physicians honored with this award must also be one whom St. Joseph Mercy Hospital staff and volunteers would recommend to family and friends in the community.
As a radiation oncologist, Dr. Dalal specializes in the care and treatment of patients undergoing radiation therapy for cancer. He was nominated for his commitment meeting the unique needs of cancer patients by unselfishly giving of himself.
“Dr. Dalal makes times for anyone and everyone who has questions about either their cancer care or the care of a loved one,” comments his nominator. “From patients to hospital employees and volunteers, I can’t enumerate how many people he has unselfishly helped over the years. Dr. Dalal is straightforward and communicates in a manner that is easily understood by his patients. He truly leads by example every day as he strives to meet and exceed the needs of patients. He is also very personable and honest with his patients and often will give up his lunch hour to avoid making a patient wait for consultation. The number of patients, including employees, who have asked for and continue to ask for his opinion and care is astounding. I would never hesitate to refer my family or friends to Dr. Dalal, for the number of patients who seek his care speaks volumes.”
“Dr. Dalal is a terrific asset to our health care community,” states Peter Karadjoff, St. Joseph Mercy Port Huron (SJMPH) President and CEO. “His outstanding performance has been noted by those who work most closely with him and has been highlighted through his nomination. I wish to extend my sincere appreciation to Dr. Dalal for elevating the health status of our community and being a physician whom St. Joseph Mercy Hospital staff and volunteers would recommend to their family and friends.”
“It has been a wonderful 24 years working at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital,” comments Kanu Dalal, MD. “The Radiation Therapy staff has been excellent and supportive to both me and our patients. It’s really a pleasure to work at the Mercy Regional Cancer Center and take the Radiation Therapy program to the highest level attainable through the Commission on Cancer’s Outstanding Achievement Award.”
