St. Joseph Mercy Hosts Month-Long Salute to Breast Cancer Awareness
Port Huron, MI… October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and St. Joseph Mercy Port Huron and the Mercy Regional Cancer Center invites women to have a better understanding of breast cancer risk, screening and treatment. A number of events are planned to support women as they work to maintain proper breast health. Join the award-winning Mercy Regional Cancer Center for any of the following:

Mercy Miracle Makers Team Halloween Party to support the American Cancer Society – Friday, OCT. 16
You’re invited to have a Spooktacular Great Time! Join the Mercy Regional Cancer Center’s Miracle Makers Team as they work to support the 2010 American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life. This fun, holiday-costumed event includes a $20 donation at the door ($15 for an advance ticket), live band, snacks, prizes and much more (cash bar). Reduced-Cost and FREE Mammogram Availability – Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, OCT. 20 - 22
For women who lack health insurance and the financial resources to pay for their care, the Mercy Women’s Health Center is offering access to reduced-cost mammograms. For only $50, area women can obtain this important screening with the most advanced digital mammography in Port Huron. Free mammograms are also available through the Mercy Pink Ribbon Fund for those who qualify. Call 810-985-1455 for details and to make an appointment. Reduced cost mammograms will be available at the Mercy Health Center, in Fort Gratiot Township.
FREE Breast Cancer Survivor Luncheon – Saturday, OCT. 24
Join the Mercy Regional Cancer Center for its annual FREE Breast Cancer Survivor Luncheon. Enjoy an inspirational discussion: “Find Your Way: The Road of Recovery”, presented by Donna K. Schwartz, a 21-year breast cancer survivor and highly regarded community volunteer and leader. This is a unique offering for breast cancer patients, survivors and guests. The program also includes a fashion show by Suzanne’s; music by the Three Quarter Quartet; a lite lunch; informational booths and giveaways; and information presented by Homeira McDonald, MD, a local pathologist and local cancer expert. The luncheon will be held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., in the St. Joseph Mercy Hospital Baggot Street Café (cafeteria).
