Danielle Gagnon, MD - Class of 2016
Email: Danielle.Gagnon@stjoeshealth.org

Danielle was born and raised in a small town in central Maine. She earned her chemical engineering degree from the University of Maine and worked for two years in engineering. As much as she tried to forget about her dreams to be doctor, she couldn't. She eventually attended the University of Vermont Collage of Medicine. She went from wanting to be a orthopedic surgeon to a pathologist before she realized how much she loved OB/GYN.

In Danielle's spare time she and her new husband love to do anything outside. Her summers are filled with waterskiing, hiking, rock climbing, biking, and running. She spends her winters skiing, snowshoeing, sledding, and making snow angels.

Dr. Amy Kohlmeier

Amy Kohlmeier, MD - Class of 2016
Email: Amy.Kohlmeier@stjoeshealth.org

Amy was born and raised in Sarnia, ON, eh! She attended University of Notre Dame for undergrad where she ran cross country and track and field and studied Science Preprofessional. After undergrad, she went to Saba University School of Medicine on the tiny, 5 square mile island of Saba. Amy always knew OB/Gyn was what she wanted to do but her 3rd year core and 4th year elective just confirmed this.

In her free time, Amy enjoys being active and still tries to run every day, swim, snowboard and workout. She LOVES to shop and sometimes feels as though she missed her calling as a personal shopper =). Amy is so happy she matched somewhere close to home because she plans to go back as much as possible to spend time with family and friends.

Dr. Mariko Shelton

Mariko Shelton, MD - Class of 2016
Email: Mariko.Shelton@stjoeshealth.org

Mari grew up in the small town of Columbus, Indiana. At Carleton College in Minnesota, she majored in Psychology and also studied Anthropology and Women’s Studies. Mari decided to become a doctor while doing medical care management at a homeless shelter. She completed pre-med courses at Northwestern University and Medical School at Loyola in Chicago. Highlights from the last few years include studying medical Spanish with a midwife in Guatemala and getting married. Mari’s favorite part of Ob/Gyn is caring for women through transitions in life. Her second favorite part is doing surgery. She lives with her husband, an urban planner, and their elderly cat in Detroit.

Email: Ayesha.Khan@stjoeshealth.org

Ayesha was raised in the metro Detroit area, where she grew up with her three sisters. She was born in India and lived around the world but claims Michigan as home. Family and travel are her loves in life. She studied at the University of Rochester for both undergrad and medical school in Rochester, New York.

Ayesha loved taking care of women especially during pregnancy and birth. She enjoys the conversations and the action Ob/Gyn brings. She is excited to be living in Ann Arbor as well as being closer to her family.

Catriona Macardle, MD- Class of 2017
Email: Catriona.Macardle@stjoeshealth.org

Cat hails from Durham, a small northern English city that once had Harry Potter film in its 900 year old Cathedral! She attended Durham University where the college system, like Oxford or Cambridge, is still in place. Some undergraduates live in a medieval castle but her college "Trevelyan College" was entirely composed of hexagons. Apparently the architect was concerned that females had an internal fear of right angles! Managing to overcome this fear of right angles, Cat graduated with BA (Hons) in Anthropology and by that time had also worked and travelled worldwide. Her dream of becoming an OBGYN was set well before her admission into Newcastle medical school, but was cemented by her experiences in a Ghanaian labor and delivery unit.

She followed her husband to Michigan a few years ago and has never been happier. She enjoys spending days off with her two little boys and soaking in everything that enchanting Ann Arbor has to offer. She especially likes hearing the University of Michigan marching band rehearse a couple of blocks from her house, having Ann Arbor's famous Washtenaw Dairy ice cream parlor down the road, and planning her winter knitting projects. St Joe's has been the perfect family for this outsider and she is looking forward to seeing what the rest of residency brings.

JadeBurch.jpg

Jade Burch, MD Class of 2018
Jade.Burch@stjoeshealth.org

Jade was born in Detroit, MI. She knew from a very young age she wanted to become a physician, inspired primarily by her childhood pediatrician. She had a mindset that she was going to follow in his footsteps and become a pediatrician until she enrolled in the University of Michigan for undergrad. It was there, while pursuing her major in biology that she began to experiment with a few courses in Women’s Studies. She loved them so much she earned a minor in Gender and Health and knew she was an OB/Gyn in the making. Her inclination was further solidified with her third and fourth year clerkships in OB/Gyn while she was a medical student at Loyola University Stritch School of Medicine in Maywood, IL.

She is a self-proclaimed “home-body” that loves reading (especially teen adventure fantasy!), movies and a nice glass of wine. But never fear, she also enjoys a night out with family and friends for dancing or enjoying dinner at one of Ann Arbor’s multitude of awesome restaurants!

Caitlin Parker, MDClass of 2018
Caitlin.Parker@stjoeshealth.org

Caitlin was born and raised in Santa Barbara, California. She attended University of California Los Angeles for undergrad where she played soccer and majored in biochemistry. Believe it or not, very ready to leave California she attended Michigan State University College of Human Medicine where she discovered both her love for OBGYN and the state of Michigan not to mention met her fellow Spartan engineer husband.

She looks forward to caring for women through times of celebration and transition in their lives. Caitlin fell in love with St. Joes OBGYN and is so thrilled to spend at least the next 4 years surrounded by such incredible fellow residents and supportive faculty.

JohnnaNynas.jpg   Johnna Nynas, MDClass of 2018
Johnna.Nynas@stjoeshealth.org

Johnna grew up in Evansville, Minnesota, a rural farming community known for its rolling hillsides, beautiful lakes, and Scandinavian heritage. She received her bachelor's degree in Women's Studies and Public Health at the University of Minnesota Twin Cities. She then accepted a staff position as a Retail Manager at the University of Minnesota where she worked extensively with student development and teaching. Shortly after college she married her college sweetheart, Dan, and together they adopted two Shetland sheepdogs whom they affectionally call their "fur kids." Johnna attended the University of Minnesota Medical School's Duluth campus. While she always had an interest in women's health, she decided to become an OB/Gyn after realizing her love for both surgery and primary care.

In her free time Johnna is an accomplished cook; having taught several cooking classes and is currently working on her first cookbook. She also loves music and dancing, and is a licensed Zumba instructor. She hopes to incorporate her knowledge of cooking, love of Zumba, and passion for preventative care into her future medical practice.

AlexArgyelan.jpg   Alex Argyelan, MDClass of 2018
Alex.Argyelan@stjoeshealth.org

Alex grew up in Bourbonnais, IL, a small town 50 miles south of Chicago. He hadn't always known he wanted to be a physician and actually did not realize it until his senior year of college after shadowing a local physician. He did his undergraduate studies in Physics at Knox College in Galesburg, IL. He then went to medical school at Ross University in Dominica, while completing all of his clinical rotations in the Detroit metro area. He chose OB/GYN because of the diversity in the physicians' role. When not reading or working he enjoys cooking, exercising and spending time with friends and family.

Sara Muszynski, MD

Sara Muszynski, MD – Class of 2019
Email – Sara.Muszynski@stjoeshealth.org

Sara is a Michigan native, growing up in Shelby Township, a suburb of Metro Detroit. She attended Michigan State University for undergrad majoring in Zoology, where courses consisted of dissecting lampreys and cats rather than cadavers accompanied delightfully by the ever intriguing study of chicken embryos. During her time, she transitioned through many career possibilities, substance abuse counseling, pharmacy, and finally decided junior year to put all her efforts into pursuing medical school. She went on to attend Michigan State University College of Human Medicine and immediately was drawn to OB/GYN early on due to the high intensity and versatility of the specialty.

Sara is recently married. Her and her husband Aaron met "dancing" in Royal Oak. They are die hard Spartan fans, which makes living in Ann Arbor somewhat controversial... They have season tickets to Spartan Football and adore fall for this reason. Additionally, Sara and her husband spend many nights at the gym, also enjoy running, and loud live music. Sara is thrilled to be at St. Joe's finally pursuing her passion!

Jennifer O'Neill, DO

Jennifer O'Neill, DO – Class of 2019
Email – Jennifer.O'Neill@stjoeshealth.org

Jennifer was born and raised in the San Francisco Bay Area in California. She attended Santa Clara University, where she received a bachelor's degree in biology with a minor in art history. Jennifer also rowed for the Santa Clara Women's Crew team for four years. Following graduation, she received an EMT-Basic certification and worked as an EMT in Alameda and San Mateo Counties. After spending her entire life in the Bay Area, Jennifer decided that she wanted a change and moved to Denver, Colorado. She worked in the Psychiatric Emergency Room at Denver Health before she was accepted into Rocky Vista University College of Osteopathic Medicine. Jennifer fell in love with the field of OB/Gyn during her fourth year of medical school, when she realized the specialty was the perfect combination of everything she enjoys about medicine. During fourth year, she completed a rotation at St. Joseph Mercy Ann Arbor and quickly knew that this was the place where she wanted to train. She was thrilled to "continue her move east" when she matched into the residency program!

In her free time, Jennifer likes to be active and spend time with family and friends. She especially enjoys running, yoga, hiking, and spoiling her dog, Lexi! She is excited to explore the outdoor activities in Michigan and indulge at the many wonderful restaurants in Ann Arbor.

Katherine Riddle, MD

Katherine Riddle, MD – Class of 2019
Email – Katherine.Riddle@stjoeshealth.org

Katie was born and raised with her 3 sisters in Cheshire, CT, a suburban town just north of New Haven. She attended College of the Holy Cross in Worcester, MA, where she majored in biology with a pre-medical concentration, played Division I lacrosse, and sang in the college and chamber choirs. Katie then traveled halfway across the country(!!) to Omaha, NE, where she attended Creighton University School of Medicine. Katie knew from an early age that she wanted to become a doctor, and her passion for women’s health was realized during her second year of medical school. This is when she volunteered at the monthly Women’s Magis Clinic, a student-led clinic for homeless women in the Omaha area.

Katie has always loved playing the role of coach or teacher, whether it was in the form of her previous tutoring jobs or volunteering at summer youth lacrosse camps. She is very excited that as a resident, she has medical students to take under her wing, and that as a physician she gets the opportunity to educate her patients in a way that makes them feel empowered about themselves and their bodies.

Katie enjoys spending her spare time with friends and family, telling stories and laughing, watching sports, and catching up on her favorite TV shows.  She can find the best YouTube videos to share with friends and has semi-professional karaoke skills. She also enjoys volunteering, which once led her to dressing up as the Pillsbury Doughboy at a Kid’s Convention Center.

Andrea Starostanko, MD

Andrea Starostanko, MD – Class of 2019
Email – Andrea.Starostanko@stjoeshealth.org

Andi grew up in Traverse City, MI where she met her husband Eric when they were in high school. She attended Michigan State University for undergrad, majoring in physiology and later went on to attend medical school there as well. Her husband is also a Michigan State University alumnus and is currently a second year medical student at the Michigan State University College of Human Medicine – needless to say Sparty was in attendance at the wedding.

Andi would describe herself as "indoorsy." She loves to curl up on the couch with her husband and two cats (Muffin and Scooter) and watch a Netflix Original. She enjoys karaoke and dancing; although those around her would prefer that she did not. Even though she is a Spartan at heart she is falling in love with the Ann Arbor area, especially the abundant art/culture/festivals and great "foodie" restaurants in the area.

Andi is planning to eventually practice as a generalist. Her favorite part about being an OB-GYN is connecting with women and taking advantage of the many "teachable moments" inherent in pregnancy, labor, and childbirth, and really challenging women to be their best selves.
