OSPREY: Occlusive/Stenotic Peripheral artery Revascularization study): A Multi-center clinical trial of the Misago™ Self Expanding Stent System for Superficial Femoral Artery
Description of Research
The purpose of this clinical research study is to confirm the safety and effectiveness of the Misago™ Self Expanding Stent system in a stenotic (narrowed) or occlusive (blocked) lesions in the Superficial Femoral Artery (thigh artery). A stent is a small wire mesh tube that is used to prop open an artery that is narrowed or blocked. Every subject enrolled in the study will receive the same type of stent.
Participants are recruited from patients who have been scheduled to have a leg angiogram with possible stent placement for a narrowing or blockage in the blood vessel in their thigh. After conducting the standard angiographic examination, their doctor may discover that they have a narrowed superficial femoral artery (SFA) in their thigh that needs to be treated. Based on his/her judgment the patient may be a suitable candidate for inclusion in this clinical study.
