Cardiovascular procedures, such as open-heart surgery and cardiac catheterization, are vital to saving lives and improving health. But a careful analysis of all the issues in patients’ lives, such as how you live and what other medical, social, and emotional conditions you may face can be just as important for your quality of life.
We understand that you have a full life, with family, friends, a job, aspirations and hobbies. And we understand that you also have other medical conditions, hard-to-break habits, stresses, struggles and needs. This is why we offer classes and support programs to address the full range of your needs.
Our community-based programs for patients and family members promote a lifelong approach to wellness and cardiovascular health to form one of the most comprehensive cardiovascular education programs in the country.
Our programs include risk-factor management classes, stress reduction, support groups, and heart-healthy nutrition and exercise classes. We also offer cardiac and vascular rehabilitation programs where the goal is to empower you to make lifelong changes to your lifestyle and increase your confidence to exercise and practice better nutrition. In fact, our rehabilitation program succeeds in encouraging hundreds of our patients to stay in our long term program, to maintain lifestyle changes of ongoing exercise and proper nutrition, in a structured setting with group support.
MHVI’s education department is also easy to access. It offers a patient-friendly Education Line at 734-712-3583, and comprehensive patient-education materials that are given to each patient who comes to us for cardiovascular services.
